Karat, percentage, and fineness
These are three ways of saying the same thing — how much of the metal is gold:

Karat is out of 24; fineness is out of 1,000. To convert karat to fineness, divide by 24 and multiply by 1,000 (14 ÷ 24 × 1000 = 583, rounded to 585 by convention). Purity percentage is just the fineness as a percent.
Value per gram
